Gubbio Castle

This magnificent castle dates back to the early Middle Ages (1200 AD), during which it was the focus of the defence of the town of Gubbio against Perugia. 

Host the event of a lifetime at the castle. The fifteen-bedroom(13 doubles, 2 twins) villa near Perugia blends walls that have stood for centuries with recently renovated interiors. The 1,200-acre estate, large garden and separate guest quarters give parties of up to 30 guests plenty of space, and much of the property is wheelchair-accessible.

During your stay, spend time exploring the surrounding village and forests, strolling the rose garden, swimming in the pool or playing billiards and ping-pong. Lounge in one of the jetted tubs or on a chaise by the pool, and enjoy al-fresco meals at the long table in the courtyard. Thanks to the 2009 restoration, even the medieval parts of the villa now have under-floor heating, a computer and Wi-Fi access.

From the stone walls and tile floors to the beamed ceilings and elaborate fireplace mantels, you’ll be surrounded by history. The common areas have been furnished with antiques like carved armoires, roll-arm loveseats and spindle-leg tables for a comfortably elegant feel. Dine at a long table in the splendor of the great hall, or enjoy a casual meal over farmhouse-style tables and ladder-back chairs. The stainless steel kitchen is fully equipped for either a simple coffee and snack or a professionally catered meal.

Each of the castle’s fifteen bedrooms has an en-suite bathroom. There are seven bedrooms in the main castle, and seven in the guest quarters, which can be reached by crossing the courtyard or via secret passageway. In the castle, you’ll find five bedrooms with double beds, one of which has a jetted tub and sitting area, and two bedrooms with two twin beds each. In the guest quarters, there are six bedrooms with double beds, two of which are wheelchair-accessible, and one bedroom with two double beds and a jetted tub.

The owners of the estate are descendants of the family of Napoleon Bonaparte and they have elegantly furnished the living areas and bedrooms in the empire style with the family’s antique furniture.In the watch tower, bedrooms have been constructed, two of them so large that they cover the entire perimeter of the tower.

The kitchen, a highly functional, professional stainless steel kitchen, is intended for use by clients and staff and is more than adequate for catering for wedding receptions or parties. It has direct access to the inner courtyard of the castle as well as the other outdoor areas.

Together with the guest quarters, the castle can accommodate up to 30 guests and the price includes both daily maid service (except on Sundays) as well as daily breakfast preparation (except on Sundays, cost of the food excluded). On request, a chef can be hired to provide dinner which may be enjoyed in the magnificent setting of the courtyard within the wonderful castle walls or otherwise outside the castle in the terrace area in front of the park, close to the kitchen.

It is even possible to celebrate Mass in the chapel of the property.

Please note that the purchase of the groceries (for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner) is excluded and can be done by the care taker, the cost of this service is 50 Euros for each shopping; a deposit of 1.000 euros for the cost of groceries must be paid upon arrival directly to the owner in cash or by credit card (in this case there is a 10% surcharge), based on receipts the property owner will give the remained money in return, every 3 days the deposit should be checked and renewed if necessary.
