Venetian Private Island

Rent a private Island! Beautiful 9 bedroom villa on a private island in the Venetian Lagoon. Very, very special!

Venice Villa 16

Located on one of the few private islands in Europe, this newly restored 9 bedroom villa is the ultimate in exclusivity, just a short boat ride from downtown Venice, yet in it's own world of peace and quite, surrounded by the lagoon, vineyards and orchards.

As soon as you arrive on the 30 hectare/75 acre island you will find the luxurious accommodation outfitted with exquisite amenities and stylish décor, designed to make you feel right at home. The villa, set within gardens and beautifully grounds established over centuries, offers 2 master bedrooms, 5 double bedrooms and 2 single bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom. You enter the villa through the spacious terrace featuring a large fireplace into a light-filled living room with access to an art-deco style library. The original venetian kitchen is equipped with state of the art appliances and is just opposite to the grand dining hall fit to cater for 16 guests.

The island is also home to thriving organic orchards and gardens lined up along vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes). It is an amazing experience to walk along the paths that intertwine on the island, to reach the ancient little church, or to walk the ponds. The small consecrated church, in the middle of the waterways crossing the island, might be an unusual and romantic place to celebrate a wedding, or Mass celebrating one of life's milestones. There is a pebble beach on the island and for those who enjoy fishing, they will be able to fish for sea bass and bream.

Everything is just a short boat-ride away. The beautiful venetian boat is always at your disposal to discover new places around the lagoon or quickly bring you to the numerous highlights of Venice, the Lido, Burano or the other islands. There is also a variety of word-class restaurants close to the island offering typical venetian cuisine.

On the island itself is a pebble beach and for those who enjoy fishing, they will be able to fish for sea bass and bream.

Shops and restaurants can be found on the neighboring Island of Burano which can be reached in 10 minutes by boat. Burano is the most colourful of the lagooon islands. The streets are lined with lace and linen stalls and open-air trattorias serving fresh fish. The island is densely populated, its waterways are lined by brightly painted fishermen's houses.

In a separate wing of the villa is the caretaker's house with private entrance. Thus, you have a permanent contact person for questions, assistance and transfers by taxi boat. He has first aid training and speaks English, German and Italian.

Recommended Local Restaurants

Seven minutes by boat from villa

Venissa-Fondamenta Santa Caterina 3, 30142 Isola di Mazzorbo P. 041 52 72 281 http://venissa.it/en/ristorante/#prenotazioni. This, plainly, is a very special place, located on the island of Mazzorbo. It is on the vapporetto line, the stop before Burano. Here vines are grown and wine produced, as well as vegetables. A piece of rural life, right in Venice. The restaurant usses many of the ingredients produced here and is just excellent. It has, indeed, earned one Michelin star. Not to be missed. Expensive.

As an alternative, a more affordable and less formal companion piece to its Michelin-starred sister, Venissa Osteria at the same location is an upmarket osteria offering updates on Venetian classics such as marinated fish, duck pasta and bigoli (thick wholemeal pasta with anchovies). For an extra treat, splash out on a glass of Dorona, the prestigious golden-hued wine varietal only grown here. Make sure you save room for some of Venice's best desserts. Moderate prices at the Osteria.

Trattoria Alla Maddalena-Fondamenta Santa Caterina Mazzorbo 7/b, 30142 Mazzorbo Tel +39 041 730151 www.trattoriamaddalena.com/en/ Located a short walk from the Mazzorbo's vaporetto stop, here you can savor fish, game and the first fruits of the season. Moderate prices

Al Gatta Nero-Fondamenta Giudecca 88, 30142 Burano Tel 39 041 730 120 http://gattonero.com It's not just the photogenic canalside location that marks out this long-running Burano trattoria. For half a century now they've fed everyone from the local postman to famous Burano resident Philippe Starck by selecting the best and the freshest of the morning seafood catch and using it to make perfect versions of local specialities like risotto con i gò ('gò' are gobies, a small but tasty Adriatic fish) or a fritto misto (mixed seafood fry-up) so light it could almost convert me to fried food. The interior is charmingly unreconstructed, but in warm weather the few outside tables are the ones to book. For such a humble place, the wine list is surprisingly well structured.

Riva Rosa-Via San Mauro 296, 30142 Burano Tel 39 041 730 850 https://www.rivarosa.it There are few better places for a romantic lunch in Venice than this delightful seafood restaurant on the lace island of Burano. The family that owns the place is part of the dynasty that owns the Emilia lace brand, and the elegantly feminine décor is a good advertisement for their design sense. The chef takes the day's seafood catch and turns it into excellent, unfussy Venetian dishes like risotto al gò (with goby, a local fish), spaghetti with clams and mussels, turbot baked with potatoes. It's not cheap, but you're paying for the position, the canalside tables, the professional service, and the sheer quality of the ingredients. If you're looking to pop a question – or simply want to impress your better half – they have a panoramic single table for two on the altana, or roof terrace, which can be booked, with dedicated waiter service, for an all-in price of €150 a head, wine included.

Ten minutes by boat from villa

Locanda Cipriani-Piazza Santa Fosca 29 30142 Torcello, Venezia Italy P. 041 730150 Great little country reataurant on the Venetian island of Torcello. It makes a great lunch excursion to visit Torcello, followed by a leisurely lunch here. Upper moderate to expensive.

Osteria Al Ponte del Diavolo-Fondamenta Borgognoni 10/11, 30142 Torcello Tel +39041730401 www.osteriaalpontedeldiavolo.com Another great choice on Torcello. Highly regarded. Moderate prices
